Kim and I had a very exciting weekend. We went to a Water Rescue workshop for Newfoundlands that was hosted by the Colonial Newfoundland Club at Codorus State Park in Pennsylvania. I’ve been swimming before, but this weekend I learned the basics for water rescue. I went in the water and swam to people who were yelling “help”, I practiced swimming around people and towing them into shore, I fetched a bumper in the water, and best of all, I got to take my first boat ride. The boat ride was so much fun. Kim sat beside me and fed me chicken the whole time. I really like boats! Then we practiced jumping off the boat into the water. It wasn’t deep water to start with, but I saw some of the more experienced dogs jump off the boat in the middle of the lake to save their humans. I was really impressed to see one dog that dove underneath an overturned boat in the water to save their human that was trapped under the boat. Kim said she wants us to work on what we learned so we can try to get our Junior Water Rescue title. Sounds like fun to me!
